Back Pain in Pregnancy
During pregnancy, there are normal physiological changes that occur in response to weight gain and hormonal changes. On average, pregnant women may gain 25 to 35 pounds: this can cause the force across some joints to increase up to two-fold.
Additionally, because the enlarged uterus causes a change in your centre of gravity, your spine needs to compensate. The extra strain combined with hormones loosening ligaments, can lead to back pain.
Osteopathy is a safe and effective therapy during this time - it is also an excellent way of realigning a tired mum's muscles.
